Denmark
ENFOR is an SME providing forecasting and optimisation solutions for the energy sector. Utilities, energy traders, transmission and distribution system operators use ENFOR solutions for forecasting of wind power, solar power, electricity and heat demand as well as optimisation of district heating systems. Based in Denmark and established in 2006 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Denmark, the company has a solid operational track record and is successfully serving customers in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Faroe Islands. The solutions can be implemented either locally or as a part of a web service.
Contribution to tasks in the project:
Senior Engineer
Dr. Kyriaki Foteinaki is a senior engineer at ENFOR. She is a Mechanical Engineer, holds a MSc in Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark, and a Ph.D. from Civil Engineering, Technical University of Denmark on the topic of models for flexible operation of buildings in district energy system Nordhavn. Her main focus at ENFOR is to deliver Heat SolutionsTM, which is an integrated portfolio of forecasting heat demand and providing temperature optimization of the supply temperature for the district heating sector.
In syn.ikia she will be the main responsible for the daily operations of the project. She will contribute to the work performed in Work Packages 3 and 4, and participate in the work included in the Work Packages 1, 5, 6 and 7.
Managing Director
Mikkel Westenholz is an expert with profound knowledge about the Energy Sector, which was gained over 12 years of experience within the Energy Sector and the EV-industry. During 6 years working as a consultant, with a focus on delivering advanced analytics solutions, he covered everything from statistical forecasting and optimization to performance measurement and data mining. During his 4 years as a senior manager at an EV-infrastructure operator he was leading business development and production development teams. Furthermore, he has been employed at an energy company for 3 years – leading a team defining the electricity trading strategies in the Northern European markets as well as invests in the Netherlands. Mikkel is currently the managing director of ENFOR A/S and focus on operational energy forecasting (wind and solar power as well as heat and electricity demand). Mikkel has an academic background with a master degree from the technical university with a focus on energy planning and mathematical optimization.
In syn.ikia he will supervise and contribute to the work performed in Work Packages 3 and 4 and participate in the work included in the Work Packages 1, 5, 6 and 7.
Technological Managing Director
Dr. Torben Skov Nielsen is managing director and co-founder of ENFOR. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Informatics and Mathematical Modelling, Technical University of Denmark on the topics of statistical methods for prediction and control of non-linear stochastic systems. He has more than 20 years of experience with on-line application of mathematical models and has worked with forecasting of wind energy and heat load in more than 15 years. He is the main responsible for the development of the tools for prediction of wind power and heat load, respectively. He has published a large number of research papers regarding prediction of wind power, heat load and related subjects. Throughout his career he has focused on on-line application of advanced methods for prediction and control especially within energy systems and in close collaboration with end users. The interest for providing advanced solutions in collaboration with end users was one his main motivations for co-founding ENFOR.
In syn.ikia he will supervise and contribute to the work performed in Work Packages 3 and 4.
